This certainly is an astonishing map to look at. Granted, Kerry garnered a large number of overall votes, and thus this map may be somewhat deceiving as to the public's view of John Kerry. At the same time, however, it does show that a vast majority of the nation (much more than people perceive), preferred Bush to Kerry. It is evident that Kerry did extraordinarily well in heavily populated areas, such as Cleveland, OH. In fact, if it weren't for Cleveland, Kerry would have been demolished by Bush in the state of Ohio. It seems the voter turnout for Kerry is quite indicative of his campaign trail. He made sure to campaign heavily in the big cities, and thus faired well in those places. It is clear, however, that in nearly every smaller county nationwide, Bush was the preferred candidate.
