The NYT presidential endorsment

The New York Times has just endorsed John Kerry for the presidency. Read the editorial. (NYT requires a free registration prior to reading their articles).

Excerpt: "We look back on the past four years with hearts nearly breaking, both for the lives unnecessarily lost and for the opportunities so casually wasted. Time and again, history invited George W. Bush to play a heroic role, and time and again he chose the wrong course. We believe that with John Kerry as president, the nation will do better."

I liked this article very much. It successfully spelled out all of Bush's worst mistakes during his time in office, many of which are unknown to the average citizen. To an average citizen, I think this article in particular strikes an interest more than an average daily newsstory regarding the election. To see that The New York Times, a well-known and respected newspaper (which all are well aware of), to endore so defiantly a presidential nominee is certainly interesting news. It might have been nice to hear more on what Kerry will do in office, as that section seemed a bit short. The lack of facts on Kerry gives the sense that you should vote for Kerry moreso because he's "not Bush."
