"How the Electoral College works"

A very interesting primer from CNN. Worth reading if you want to know what the Electoral College is all about.

Well, I must admit that I did not know much of the Electoral College but I do find it extremly interesting...As I should!!!!
In regards to the changes being made in the 2004 election I agree with the adding of members to the Electoral College but it still does not make me feel comfortable or confindent to think that something sneaky won't happen like the 2000 election concerning florida. I think that there should be more information regarding who these people are, why the addition and what else is being done to prevent another mess up like in 2000. I do not believe anyone in the media spot light focuses enough on that but needs to especially so close to election day.
If you are like myself and was uneducated in this area and want to learn more about this topic and simply went to the cnn and or something as simple as google and typed in Electoral College and I got more than enough information.

I thought that i had a relatively decent understanding of what the electoral college was, but i must admit that this article did confuse me a little. I found it necessary to go back and read it again. Although i believe this is generally a good system, it still scares me. The 2000 election was a ridiculous occurrence and i know that whatever happens this year will have just as much controversy, no matter who is elected. It is hard to believe that at Bush's inauguration it was the first time that a president was having things thrown at his car and could not get out.
People felt screwed by the system, and I have no doubt that many people will feel that way again this year. I, personally, have never felt so scammed by the country in my life since that election, 9/11, and so on. I am sure that I am not alone on that, and it makes me wonder that if something happens again this year similar to what happened with florida in 2000, is there another system to consider?
